The Arts Collection is one of the Library's major collections, covering the visual and decorative arts, photography, music, theatre, dance, cinema, radio and television. Its scope is both national and international and seeks to represent important schools, movements and genres across all of its subjects.
The Arts Collection principally consists of books and journals, with a significant number of audio-visual materials supporting the music and performing arts collections. In recent years important digital databases have been added, extending the range and reach of available resources
Popular culture is increasingly represented across the collections and collecting activity over the last few years has centred on areas such as local and international rock music, film studies and Australian comic books from the 1920s up to the present day.
