Collecting Levels

Humanities

Humanities subjects include architecture, geography, history, language and linguistics, literature, philosophy and religion. Established in the late 19th- and early 20th- centuries, the collection is particularly strong in British and European history resources. More emphasis is now given to the regions of East Asia, South-East Asia, South Asia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.

A significant feature of the collection is the works on voyages of discovery and descriptive accounts by travellers.

Extensive journal holdings provide many unique opportunities for selectors and researchers. The print collections are complemented by a range of digital resources.
