Boys, Blokes, Books & Bytes Program

Boys, Blokes, Books & Bytes is a new program designed to make reading enjoyable and meaningful for adolescent boys. Developed by the State Library's Centre for Youth Literature in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, this program brings together teenage boys, schools, families and the community within their public library to share stories and engage in reading.

Boys, blokes, Books and Bytes is based on a successful pilot program run by the Centre for Youth Literature in Melton and Drouin during 2006 and 2007.

Free toolkit for schools

As part of the new program, every Victorian school with middle years boys will receive a free toolkit containing information and resources to help teachers develop their own Boys, Blokes, Books and Bytes programs in partnership with public libraries.
