Public Holidays
The State Library is open on all public holidays except Good Friday and Christmas Day. Opening hours are 10am-6pm for the main Library areas and 10am-5pm for Library galleries.
Services
We provide the following services on public holidays:
- inquiry service at Information Desks
- user registration
- printing and copying
- same day delivery of books and journals stored onsite (orders close at 5.30pm).
The Heritage Collections, including Manuscripts, Pictures and Rare Printed collections, are closed.
Requests
If you want to use items from Heritage Collections on a public holiday you need to order them in advance. You also need to order newspapers, journals and manuscripts stored offsite in advance.

Arrangements over the longer Easter and Christmas periods are different to those for standard public holidays. More information is available shortly before each of these holiday periods.
