Keith Murdoch Gallery
One of several exhibition spaces within the State Library, the Keith Murdoch Gallery hosts a changing program of exhibitions throughout the year. These include exhibitions drawn from the Library’s rich collections as well as significant touring shows from other cultural institutions.
Located off the Front Foyer, this colonnaded space first opened in May 1859 as a Museum of Art. It subsequently became part of the Museum of Victoria until closing for refurbishment in the late 1990s. In May 2001, it was reopened as the Keith Murdoch Gallery in honour of a former President of the Public Library Trustees.
The Keith Murdoch Gallery has set opening hours and entry to the gallery is free. To find the exact location of this gallery, consult the Library floor plan.
