Rules

General

• The competition has a section for adults (over the age of 18) and a section for kids (under the age of 18), with separate prizes for each.
• Competition entries will be accepted from Friday 30 November 2007 to the close of business on Sunday 2 March 2008. No late entries will be accepted.
• Offensive or inappropriate images won't be published.
• Please ensure you have permission from any people you have photographed to publish their picture online.
• Images and text approved for publication will appear on the Wish You Were Here! competition website.
• By submitting your images and text to the Wish You Were Here! competition you give us permission to re-use them - either digitally or in print. But don't worry, we will always name you as the creator and we will never sell your images.
• Your images and text will not be included in the Library's collection.
• We will protect your privacy - see the Library's Privacy Policy.
• One winning entry from the Adult section and one winning entry from the Kids section will each receive a digital camera worth approximately A$400 RRP. One second-place winner from the Adult section and one second-prize winner from the Kids section will each have their winning photograph printed, mounted and framed.
• The competition will be judged by the State Library of Victoria's Exhibitions Curator, Clare Williamson and Picture Librarian, Madeleine Say.
• The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Prize-winners' (nicknames only) and their winning images will be announced on the Wish You Were Here! competition website on Monday 17 March 2008. Winners will also be notified by email. (Please ensure you provide a current email address.)
• By submitting your images and text to the Wish You Were Here! competition you agree to these rules.

Kids

Please make sure you have permission from your parents to enter this competition.

The 'How to' bit

• Submit your entries between Friday 30 November 2007 and Sunday 2 March 2008.
• Make sure your image files are jpegs (the filename extension should be .jpg).
• Ensure each image file is no larger in size than 2MB.
• Include the following information with each image you send in:
  - a nickname (to be published with your photo)
  - the category you are entering (Kids or Adults)
  - your email address (won't be published)
  - a title and, if you wish, a brief description of your photo (to be published with your photo).
• If you want to, add tags to your photo. (Tags are single words or short phrases that describe, or label, your photo according to how you see it. For example: holiday, beach, surfing, waves, torquay, summer.)
