Redmond Barry Reading Room

If you're looking for general non-fiction material, head to the Redmond Barry Reading Room, where you can browse the shelves, read and talk quietly. This room contains the Library's most regularly used books and magazines, in subjects ranging from history, biography and literature to science, architecture and the law.

La Trobe Reading Room

Close by is the La Trobe Reading Room, also known as the Domed Reading Room. This is one of the most spectacular spaces in the Library and is definitely worth checking out. The Library's Australiana collection is housed here – over 150,000 items about Australia, written by Australians, or published in Australia.

The balconies of the La Trobe room also house two permanent free-entry exhibitions. If you need a break from your study, head up to the fourth and fifth floors and get some inspiration!
