Get creative in these separate workshops for children and adults, celebrating the Library's exhibition Victor Hugo: Les Misérables – From Page to Stage.

Victor Hugo maker workshop: costume design

Saturday 20 September, 10.30–11.30am (children, ages 7–11), 12.30–2.30pm (adults)

Work with master costumier and puppet maker Nick Barlow to design and construct character costumes inspired by Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables. No prior experience in design is required.

Nick showcases his love of theatre and collaborative creation in these inclusive fun workshops, drawing on his experience working for such companies as Polyglot Theatre, Arena Theatre Company and Peepshow Inc.

Saturday 18 October, 10.30–11.30am (children, ages 7–11), 12.30–2.30pm (adults)

Join master set designer Danielle Brunstman to create a puppet-theatre-style set based on the themes of Les Misérables. No prior art or set design experience is necessary – just bring your creative ideas and a willingness to learn.
