Our Story

Our Story is a special summer reading program celebrating the National Year of Reading. The Victorian program is coordinated by the State Library of Victoria in collaboration with the Public Libraries Victoria Network.

Over the 2011–12 summer, we invited you to vote for your favourite book with a Victorian flavour from our short list.

The winning titles from each state and territory formed the National Year of Reading 2012 collection:

  • Smoke and mirrors – Kel Robertson (ACT)
  • The idea of home – John Hughes (NSW)
  • Listening to country – Ros Moriarty (NT)
  • The white earth – Andrew McGahan (QLD)
  • Time's long ruin – Stephen Orr (SA)
  • Wanting – Richard Flanagan (TAS)
  • Well done, those men – Barry Heard (VIC)
  • Jasper Jones – Craig Silvey (WA)
