The evolution of storytelling

From oral traditions to printed books, film and online formats, storytelling may have changed, but our thirst for narrative remains undiminished.

Michelle Rayner is the executive producer of Hindsight on ABC Radio National. Michelle won the NSW Premier's History Award in 1996 for her documentary Passes and pathways: a history of the Blue Mountains.

Jackie Kerin is from the Storytelling Guild of Victoria. She has won numerous awards for oral and written storytelling, and is also the published author of the children's book Phar Lap the wonder horse.

Gabrielle Wang is a Melbourne author and illustrator of children's and young adult books. Her books have been published internationally and translated.

This discussion was held on 22 October 2009 as part of The independent type exhibition, held at the State Library of Victoria. It was presented in association with the Storytelling Guild of Victoria.
