Musical Treasures: Rare Australian chamber music performed live
This unique series presents rare and intimate performances of Australian chamber music by four composers of international standing. The concerts highlight musical treasures from our collection. Some of the pieces have not been performed in public for more than 100 years, while others, including the final scene from the opera Sappho by Peggy Glanville-Hicks, will be premiered during the series.
The series also showcases the work of noted conductor Richard Divall and celebrated harpist Marshall McGuire. During their State Library of Victoria Creative Fellowships, each produced new editions of the manuscripts they worked on, enabling this rare, original music to be performed and distributed.
Each concert will be introduced by Richard Divall.
