ergo Introduction Sessions

'ergo' is an innovative new website for secondary students and their teachers, created by the State Library of Victoria.

For students, it's a practical guide to research, writing and study skills. For teachers, it's a valuable tool with a range of exercises to help develop students' critical thinking. 'ergo' supports English and interdisciplinary literacy skills, with content linked specifically to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) and VCE.

Teachers and librarians in regional Victoria and Melbourne are invited to attend free one-hour information sessions with the State Library's 'ergo' Education Officer. The sessions give an introduction to the site's key features and applications, including:

  • resources that help students to improve their research and essay-writing skills
  • the 'For Teachers' section of the site, featuring worksheets, curriculum links and resource kits
  • how 'ergo' addresses Interdisciplinary Learning in the areas of Thinking Processes and ICT as well as the Humanities and English in Discipline-based Learning
  • classroom applications for ergo, tailored to meet learning outcomes for VELS Levels 5, 6, and VCE.
