Hi Mickey, not really. i started working with my dad when i was young and was inculturturated into work. My recent experience that i blogged yesterday was viewing our culture through the eyes of a newly arrived migrant. i was disheartened at the deterioration of our protection of the more vulnerable people in the work force. When i started work i was an insider. When you can't read and write in the language of the culture and your oral expression is less than perfect it can be intimidating. Where i can identify with my wife's experience is going to university and feeling grammatically incompetent. I knew it didn't mean i was unintelligent, and i knew i had a story i wanted to tell, but i was intimidated putting things on paper. I still have bad hand writing and, put under pressure, i can't spell in front of people. So thanks Mickey, you have just unearthed my connection with my wife's experience. Do you do this for a living? Cheers mate. Dennis

Hi Kevin, is that Kevin Fisher? if so how are you going. it is good to see that David hasn't changed. I started off writing my daughter's story and it morphed into Beaten. My next book, is different but still personal. I have written two manuscripts and both of them didn't work. My third draft however is working. I tried what i thought would work and it didn't, so it only reinforces that as a writer you have to let the creative process show you the way. it isn't necessarily the way i would want to write a story, rather, it is what works on the page that is the determining factor. Cheers dennis

You say that your wife, Maggie, comes from an "uneducated peasant cultured background and she felt ‘small’ when she was there", are these feelings similar to those that you experienced growing up, entering the workdforce for the first time etc?
