What's your favourite work of fiction set in Victoria?
Peter Carey- True History of the Kelly Gang. It brought a human element to Ned's life and engrossed my imagination in that time of our history.
Which Victorian writer do you admire the most?
Elliot Perlman. He provides an interesting perspective on his characters, and he certainly does not write in the manner of a lawyer.
Where do you like to do your reading in Victoria?
I like to read at my holiday house. The phone is silent and I can hide in a quiet spot in the house or on the beach.
What do you believe is the best film adaptation of a Victorian book?
Three Dollars. It was true to my memories of that time in Victoria.
What is your most treasured memory of a public library?
The children's section of the Brighton library. We had just moved to the city and didn't have T.V. I went there when other children watched the Tarax Happy Show.
What is your best holiday read?
The Hunt for Red October. It was a wet day so I started to read the book. By the time the rain stopped I was hooked and continued to read it on the beach.
