Gaming, students and the curriculum (for teachers)
At this introductory professional development workshop teachers will discover a range of games and explore their part in multi-literacy development. The day will include hands-on activities, curriculum ideas, topic discussions and opportunities to engage with experts in the gaming field. All participants will receive a certificate of completion. Bring the funny: Booktalkers event for professionals
Meet four very funny authors with a different take on books for teenagers. Barry Jonsberg has been a favourite since The Whole Business of Kiffo and the Pitbull; David Metzenthen's new book Jarvis 24 is a suburban comedy; Kirsten Murphy's droll wit is at play in Halfway to Good; and newcomer Penny Tangey's Loving Richard Feynman is a rib-tickling debut about a girl's fascination with a dead physicist. Trust us, it's funny. Books will be available for purchase, and authors will sign their books. Includes supper and drinks. International Digital Entertainment Festival (iDEF)
iDEF presents two sessions for school groups. The first session, 'Tell them games are good for learning', is a discussion of how games support the development of a range of transferable skills and knowledge. The second session, 'Do you have a game plan?', presents career pathways for students with a passion for games.
