Welcome toFocus on country Victoria

2020 was an unprecedented year, from extreme bushfires to a global pandemic. In country Victoria, these challenges, combined with persistent drought and adverse international trade conditions, struck at the heart of many regional industries and communities. We plan to document country Victoria’s stories of courage and loss while these experiences are still vivid. We are asking for your help to raise $100,000 before 30 June to support the commissioning of regional photographers and oral history specialists, allowing the Library to capture history as it happens and build the State Collection.

ABOUTFocus on Country Victoria

For 165 years State Library Victoria has collected the social history of Victoria in ordinary and extraordinary times. From the earliest days of the Library’s pictures collection, commissioned photography has captured moments of contemporary life. Communities across Victoria should have the opportunity to add their experiences to the state’s memory. We need your help to build an important new archive for future generations, one focused on country Victoria during this unique moment in history. All donations, large or small, can make an impact and will be gratefully accepted.
