The advent of web 2.0 means new opportunities for interaction and a rise in online networking.
On 12 August 2008 a forum was held at the State Library of Victoria to discuss how new technologies can be used for civic engagement and activism, and whether online activism is effective.
The panel comprised:
- Karen Farquharson, senior lecturer in sociology at Swinburne University of Technology
- Anna Helme, project manager at the video-sharing site EngageMedia
- Andrew Asten, national director of the Oaktree Foundation's Schools 4 Schools program.
