Climate change at the local level

Dr Jon Barnett discusses regional human and environmental vulnerability to climate change. He proposes ways in which to adapt to water stress, drought and food insecurity.

Jon is an Australian Research Council Fellow in the School of Anthropology, Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Melbourne. Based at the Niue Ministry of Environment since 2006, he is currently assessing the human and national security risks of climate change to Pacific islands and the capacity to manage these risks. He's a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Global Environmental Change and Human Security Project.

This presentation was part of the 'Meeting the Challenge of Climate Change' seminar at the State Library of Victoria, 27 March 2007.
