If you're planning a visit to the Library, here's when we're open, how to get here and our printable Library map.

Library opening hours

Open daily 10am to 6pm.

Closed on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Open all other public holidays.

The Ian Potter Queen's Hall is open daily 10am to 4pm.

Hansen Hall is open from 10am daily via the Swanston Street entrance. Entry 2 on La Trobe Street is currently closed due to café refurbishment works.

Cowen Gallery, including the North and South Rotundas, have the same opening hours as the main public areas except when closed for functions.

Create Quarter will be closed to the general public during the winter school holidays from 27 June to 12 July and transformed into a dedicated children's activity zone. Visit Winter kids' program for more details.
Levels 5 and 6 of The Dome are currently closed.
Entry 2 and La Trobe Street Cafe are currently closed.

Russell Street Welcome Zone and the Guild Cafe open at 8.30am Monday to Friday, and 9am Saturday and Sunday.

Readings bookshop is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 12pm to 5pm Sunday.
