Spark your creativity with our Storytimes, workshops and craft sessions as we learn how an adventure is only a step away (if you know where to look).

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Join us to celebrate 20 years of the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge!
Encourage your children or students to to take part and challenge themselves to read a set number of books between March and September.
Registrations are open now for children from birth to Year 10 to join the Challenge.
Library Quest Workshops with Jess McGeachin

Embark on a quest with author-illustrator Jess McGeachin to design your own magical library.
Suitable for 5-12 year olds.
Join us on 8 or 15 April 2025 (multiple session times).
Storytime with Jess McGeachin

Travel to the depths of a lost library and uncover hidden secrets around every corner with a special Storytime from Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge author ambassador, Jess McGeachin.
Storytime will run on 8 and 15 April from 12-12.30pm.
Bookshelf Dragon Craft Activities

Help us make the snoozing Bookshelf Dragon feel at home by creating a mini book, designing a dream library and more!
Sessions run daily from 3-5pm between 5 April and 21 April.
Create Your Own Book Workshop

Calling all apprentice book makers: the Library is in need of new story books and we need your help to create them.
Suitable for 5-8 year olds.
Join us on 9 or 16 April 2025 (multiple session times).
Storytime After Dark

The people have left, the lights have been dimmed, and the Library has gone to bed. Or so the grown-ups think! Join us for a special Storytime after dark.
Sessions on 9 April and 29 May 2025.
VCES School Holiday Workshop: LEGO® Robotics - Build Me a Story

Work as a team to create and code your very own LEGO® brick robot in these interactive workshops. After the build comes the all-important testing – will your robot hold up?
Perfect for kids aged 5 to 8 years old.
Join us on 10 or 17 April 2025 (multiple session times).
2025 National Simultaneous Storytime

Join over 2 million children and read the same book at the same time for National Simultaneous Storytime.
Perfect for children aged 3-8 years old.
Join us on Wednesday 21 May from 12-12.30pm.
Storytime

Our Storytime sessions showcase classic stories and new works from much loved authors – along with your favourite songs and rhymes for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
Storytime runs every Wednesday at 10:30am (except during school holidays and on public holidays).
Toddler Tales

Come along and make some noise as we explore language and literacy through stories, rhymes, and songs for children aged 18 months to 3 years.
Toddler Tales runs every Monday at 10.30am (except during school holidays and on public holidays).
Baby Bounce

Perfect for children aged 18 months and younger, join us for a fun, interactive session of stories, songs and rhymes.
Baby Bounce runs every Monday and Wednesday from 11.30am-12.00pm (except during school holidays and on public holidays).
