The State Library administers a number of research programs, reflecting its place as a hub for intellectual inquiry and discourse. We award scholarships to promote high standards and leadership in the public library sector.

Dromkeen awards

The Dromkeen Librarian's Award and Dromkeen Medal recognise the achievements and contribution of individuals in creating and supporting Australian children's and youth literature.

Pierre Gorman Award

Victorian public library services can apply for this award, which is valued at up to $25,000 and supports improved access to or delivery of library and information services for people with a disability.

Managing self, managing others

This free professional development program is available to mid-level managers, team leaders and coordinators from Victorian public libraries and State Library Victoria.
