Grasslands installation

  • Date recorded: 15 Oct 2014

  • Duration: 1:17

'Before Europeans arrived in Victoria, much of what is now the city of Melbourne was covered in extraordinarily diverse flowering grassland.'

About this video

In 2014, award-winning Melbourne artist Linda Tegg transformed the State Library forecourt into a wild, windswept, flowering grassland to give us a taste of this land as it once was.

Created using hundreds of specially grown native plants – banksia, red gum, kangaroo grass, dichondra, dianella – Grasslands flourished on the Library steps until Sunday 23 November 2014.

Grasslands was the result of Linda's 2012 Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria.
