The Summer Read is on again with 10 great new Victorian books perfect for the holidays.
Now in its ninth year, The Summer Read is a program of the State Library of Victoria and Public Libraries Network Victoria that celebrates the diversity of Victorian writing and encourages Victorians to take time out with a good read.
The Summer Read books are new releases either written by a Victorian author, set in Victoria or about Victorians, and all are free to borrow from 157 participating public libraries throughout the state.
The books were selected by librarians and reading experts to create a diverse and lively range of reading for the summer months.
2015–16 Summer Read books are:
• The unbroken line by Alex Hammond
• Between us: Women of letters curated by Marieke Hardy and Michaela McGuire
• Certain admissions by Gideon Haigh
• Hello, beautiful! Scenes from a life by Hannie Rayson
• Please don't leave me here by Tania Chandler
• Dangerous games by Larry Writer
• Leap by Myfanwy Jones
• Bad behaviour by Rebecca Starford
• The secret son by Jenny Ackland
• Tumbledown Manor by Helen Brown
The Summer Read also gives readers the chance to win a personal library of Victorian books simply by recommending books they’ve enjoyed.
