Walter Kadiki on creating poetry for the Deaf community
Walter Kadiki is a Deaf poet whose new work Laments of Old Wal features in the Library's new exhibition MIRROR: New views on photography.
His creative response presents a raw immersion into the mind of an elderly person at a time when strengths and dreams ultimately come to a pause.
In this video, Walter shares insights into his creative process, including how he selected 5 photographs to focus on out of the 141 photos displayed in the exhibition, the feeling he wanted to evoke through his work, and the challenges he faced translating his signed poetry into English.
