About Alexander Heffner

Alexander Heffner is the host of The Open Mind, a weekly talk show broadcast on PBS, and the creator of Breaking Bread with Alexander on Bloomberg TV. He has covered American culture, politics and civic life since the 2008 presidential election. The Open Mind is the longest-running public broadcast in the history of American television. The program was founded in 1956 by Professor Richard D. Heffner, Alexander’s grandfather and provides a platform for civil discussion and exploration of a wide range of ideas and challenges facing the world today. Alexander is also co-author of the bestselling book A Documentary History of the United States.

 

About Maxine McKew AM

Maxine McKew is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne. A published author, her books include Class Act: A Study of the Key Challenges in Australian Schooling, and Tales from the Political Trenches. As a journalist, for many years Maxine was anchor of ABC TV’s 7.30 Report and Lateline. Her work has been recognised by her peers with both Walkley and Logie awards. She served on the State Library Victoria Board for 3 terms, from 2015-2024.
